Costa Rica supports an enormous variety of wildlife, due in large part to its geographic position between the North and South American continents, its neotropical climate, and its wide variety of habitats. Costa Rica is home to more than 500,000 species, which represents nearly 4% of the total species estimated worldwide, making Costa Rica one of the 20 countries with the highest biodiversity in the world. Of these 500,000 species, a little more than 300,000 are insects.
Day 1 - 14
Though being small geographically, Costa Rica is one of the most biologically diverse regions on the planet and has an astonishing number of plants, and people are drawn from all over the world to see the beautiful flowers that grow on the land of Costa Rica. The Country is famous for having more than thirteen hundred species of orchids and the country also grows many varieties of flowers like, Burmeistera tenuiflora, Cattleya skinneri, Alloplectus, Columnea magnifica, Heliconia, Passiflora and Lobelia. While some of the Native Flowers of Costa Rica are: Oenocarpus mapora, Cortez Amarillo , Elequeme, Itabo, Malinche and Roble de sabana.
The people of Costa Rica are very fond of flowers, they use flowers for decoration, celebrations and also as the gifts on various occasions. The Popular Flowers among them are, White lilies, Roses, Snapdragons, Sunflowers, Carnations, Tulips and Orchids.
